Fresh Eyes: Home Edition (Reflections)

I had a friend visit my house for the first time since we moved across the street from the beach. Her effusive, genuine compliments about everything that makes this home special helped me see it with fresh eyes. I fell in love with it all over again. Sometimes we need a reminder like this to help us see the beauty flowing around us.

Thank you for the visit and perspective shift!

In this Journal Reflection exercise, it's all about seeing your home as if you are seeing it for the first time.

1. What is something unique about your home or where you live?

Our house is steps from the beach. Oakley approves!

2. Do you have a special, designated spot for quiet creativity or self care? Describe it in detail.

What colors stand out? What kind of textures do you love? Are there special photos or mementos in this space? Why do they matter to you?

This spot is where dianadevaul.com comes to life. Note the turquoise sea glass on my desk top and photo/collar of my beloved shih tzu, Max (RIP).

3. How does walking into your home make you feel? Are you safe here? Do you feel like you matter?

If for some reason you aren't able to connect to any beauty, this is important information to know.

Write about what isn't serving your well-being as well as ways you could enhance your living space to find the balance you deserve.

4. Whether you love where you live or recognize it needs some changes, use this last prompt to write out five ways your home could be more reflective of you and your dreams.

If we ask ourselves the right questions, our outer world can begin to align more authentically with with our inner experience. Then we are reminded that Home is always with us, carried within and carrying us through.
