Besides pouring loads of self-compassion into my being, one of the best ways I have found to ground myself is by having a cup of hot tea. It's a full sensory experience which anchors me to the present, helps me connect to an all-encompassing stillness, and offers healing and hope to my heart.
To help get you started on your own immersive beverage experience, here is one of my favorite Find Your Flow exercises:
When we were in Kenya, besides being welcomed like family everywhere we went (sometimes the Cape Buffalos weren't on board, but that's okay), we were always offered chai tea which became a much appreciated touchstone of consistency throughout our travels.
In the states I had tried chai before and I didn't like it, but in Africa, it tasted like a cup of magic. I obviously had been preparing it wrong. The missing ingredient was unconditional acceptance of myself like that which was extended to me with each, sweet, hug-in-a-mug by the Kenyan people.
When we returned home I thought about trying to recreate this magical concoction, but as I Googled my options they all had a lot of steps and I didn't feel confident enough in my tea-making abilities.
Then I found this little box of chai concentrate and there you have it...magic once more!
It's so easy! Equal parts concentrate and a milk option of your choice heated on a stovetop or in the microwave.
I live for easy, especially during this time of year.
Every time I have it I feel transported.
Remember, please take some time for YOU.
May our cups overflow with abundance and may our giving, like our hearts, be joyful.

My drink in a mug is hot chocolate, I even have different flavors now which Brent got me ☺️. Trying to savor the flavors of empty nesters now, but also loving their short visits home.
A cup of chai tea with a Cape buffalo staring a you…what a moment :) Indeed a hot cup of tea to refocus the holiday rush pace is wonderfully needed.
